Sharp inherits a complex and pivotal position at a time when change and uncertainty mark the work of the Conference. His broad portfolio will include management of electronic files and data, coordinating details of large events such as our General Synod delegation and the Ohio Conference annual gathering, support for all functions of the Board of Directors, develop and manage registrations for outdoor ministry camps and retreat as well as every other event sponsored by the Conference. There is intense work to maintain email and other communications data which improve and extend the Conference’s transparency and accountability to congregations, clergy and church leaders.
Sharp follows long-time conference administrative staff, Pam Brown, who is retiring effective December 22, 2017.
Sharp is a graduate of Miami University (Ohio) where he completed a double major in comparative religion and philosophy, and Yale Divinity School with a Master of Arts in religion.
He has worked in the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church, and is currently employed by Gramercy Books. His family and he live in Bexley.
In his application packet, Adam commented, “I know that part of my role would be to help communicate the message of the Ohio Conference to people throughout Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky … Given my experiences working with wonderfully diverse groups of people, I am confident that I will be able to serve the Ohio Conference in its mission to connect faith communities to serve Christ.”
Adam will work alongside Pam Brown throughout the month of December.
We welcome Adam Sharp as our new Conference Administrator, and look forward to the gift of his skills and energies as he supports all our ministries in the days ahead.
